Having Problems with keeping a good alternator for your Mitsubishi Montero? Have you been told its the oil leak? It is extremely common with this alternator to be susceptible to oil damage. Although any oil or fluid leaking seems to be sucked into the alternator, it is common to leak from the Power Steering Pump or Valve Covers. See what a new slip ring installed into a rebuilt alternator looks like below, compared to just 3 months later with an oil leak. This damage causes a complete loss of connection within the alternator, damaging the slip rings, brushes and sometimes worse.



It is a difficult decision for us to continue to offer this alternator. We have warrantied these oil damaged units in the past, because we are always told that there is no oil leaks when we ask. But 100% of the time the fault is oil damage. Therefor we only warranty this alternator after inspection. We can no longer be liable for the external cause of failure (oil leak) to this alternator. Without exception, this alternator must be returned upon failure for oil damage inspection. If the failure is due to oil damage, it will not be warrantied. You will be liable for re-purchase.
